Excellent surfcast fishing can be done from Cooks beach shore and nearby Ferry Landing Wharf. Mercury Bay and Cooks Beach areas are well-known destinations for game fishing etc with game fish charters available from Whitianga

Cooks Beach is a short drive to a passenger ferry in Flax Mill Bay which can take you over to the main shopping area of Whitianga.
